E-Series Solvents – Force Majeure Event

In Blog, News, Pricing by John Lagae

As per the previous letter dated October 17, 2018, due to operational failure of primary separation column in the ethylene glycol ether unit at the Bayport Ethylene Oxide and Derivatives plant, we have curtailed the production of E-Series Glycol Ether Solvents at Bayport, Texas and have declared a force majeure event for Glycol Ether EB (Mono-ethylene Glycol Butyl Ether). The original effective date of the force majeure event is October 17, 2018.

As a result of this event, effective October 19, 2018, we are implementing a sales allocation for Glycol Ether EB the full months of October and November. Allocation volumes were determined based on purchases made in the prior six (6) months; specifically, April through September 2018. Any subsequent allocation changes will be communicated at a later date.

Product Allocation %
Glycol Ether EB 25%

Allocations apply to all production sites and terminals throughout the United States. Please note that during the period of allocation, customers will not be permitted to borrow ahead of their monthly amounts and unused portions of monthly amounts cannot be added to any subsequent month’s amounts. The duration of the force majeure event cannot be determined at this time and the percentage of allocation may change as new information becomes available.
