BASF Announces Force Majeure on Butyl Acrylate

In Blog, News by Author

In a statement just published by BASF, it is announced that BASF has declared force majeure on Butyl Acrylate (BA), effective immediately. An unexpected equipment failure has caused the immediate shutdown of Butyl Acrylate production out of BASF’s Freeport, TX unit. At this time, all BA orders will be on strict allocation, causing significant ramifications for the rest of the chemical industry for the foreseeable future.

“It is necessary for BASF to implement allocation on Butyl Acrylate effective immediately. We do not know the anticipated duration of the plant shut-down at this time; however, we will continue to actively manage the situation. BASF will attempt to supply as much of your needs as possible…”
